8 Week DBT Skills Parents - October 4 to November 22, 2025

This 8-week parent skills group enables parents to learn DBT skills alongside other parents in a weekly virtual live session. If your adolescent or young adult is learning DBT skills, you must understand them too and learn how to properly support them in their efforts. This is a condensed version of the full adult DBT program, designed to provide busy parents with an introduction to skills they can apply quickly.
 
The works of Linehan and other experts in the field provide supporting evidence that DBT for parents offers skills to help parents find balance between seemingly opposite ideas. Learning to find balance will help parents to:
·        Distinguish developmental typical behaviors from problem and crisis behaviors
·        Find a balance between being too strict and being too lenient
·        Foster independence while providing support
·        Avoid the blame game 
 
Key skills from all four modules will be introduced and practiced, allowing parents to apply the concepts learned to their parent-child relationships.

We will explore the biopsychosocial theory and how to parent from Wise Mind and introduce skills for parenting from all the modules.
