Adult DBT Emotion Regulation Skills - Thursdays 7 ET, 6 CT, 5 MT, 4 PT
This 14-week program is for you if you are having difficulty with emotion regulation. Can you answer yes to any of the following questions?
- Do you have intense emotional reactions?
- Do you act impulsively without thinking?
- Are you struggling to maintain your relationships?
Emotion regulation is one of the core skills of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) that focuses on managing and responding to emotions in healthy and constructive ways. You will learn how to recognize, accept and regulate emotions. This will allow you to navigate life issues healthily.
You will learn how to be emotionally aware, recognizing your primary and secondary emotions, how to be present and aware of the emotions in your present moment, how to accept your emotions without trying to change them or suppress them, and you will learn about distress tolerance so that you can tolerate distressing emotions without engaging in behaviors that make the situation worse.
We will spend 6 weeks of the 14 exploring Emotion Regulation skills. We will spend 4 weeks on Distress Tolerance skills and also cover Mindfulness and Interpersonal Effectiveness skills. With varying levels of emphasis, we will cover all 4 DBT skills modules.
This journey requires a minimum of 6 participants and is capped at 10. Once we have reached the minimum, the journey will begin. You will be notified of the journey start date.
